how it all began
Ever since i was a little boy i enjoyed creating all sorts of stuff… i've always been interested in how things were made. I owned my first pocket knive before i went to school and spent countless hours in dads workshop working on whatever seemed fun to make…
Whenever my brother got his first guitar i was amazed by the beauty of this Instrument… i was dying to know who made it and how it was made… that was before one would just look it up on the internet…
When i was 13 years old i spent a week working in a woodworking shop near Berne to find out where to make an apprenticeship once i would be done with school.
This woodworking shop produced fine furniture and i was very impressed by the wooden inlays that were done by the founder of the company. I was told that all the things i was gonna learn would eventually bring me to making guitars if that was what i wanted to do.
Still today i regard woodwork as sort of a language… The knowledge about the material and the feeling we have for using our tools- that's our vocabulary…
The things we create- that's the stories we tell.
No matter if those stories are about wooden boats, furniture or guitars - the language is always the same…
My journey has brought me to many places from Switzerland to Spain, from Canada to Ireland, and finally back home to where i am now.
All the jobs i've worked and the people i've met along the way have helped me to build guitars the way i do it today.
If there is something in your life that You want to do, or a place that You want to see, i really hope that You tie your shoes and go for it!
If the thing You absolutely want to do in life is to play a reusser guitar that's a brilliant idea
I'm just kidding…
Enough about my story for now i guess... If You are interested in my work please give me a shout via email and i'll try to get back to You as soon as possible.
All the best, René Reusser
